The controversy regarding the Kalabagh Dam is a result of improper relevant information and distrust among the federating units. Adolf Hitler’s propaganda team once said "If you tell a lie big enough and keep repeating it, people will eventually come to believe it."
BENEFITS OF DAM:
A study funded by NUST University in 2014, concluded that building Kalabagh would offer the following benefits:
(1) Annual savings of $4 billion in energy costs
(2) Saving Rs. 132 billion due to irrigation benefits and
(3) Prevent flood-loss damage, such as the $45 billion loss suffered in recent floods at the time the study was published.
The Kalabagh Dam would provide 6.5 million acre feet of water to cultivate seven million acres of currently barren land in addition to the 3,600 megawatts (4,800,000 hp) of electricity it would provide.
DIFFERENT COMPAIGNS:
Kalabagh Dam controversy and social media campaign Kalabagh Dam project is always been most controversial subject in the political history of the country. While a large number of people were in favor of it due to its potential benefits for Pakistan, a few people were against it due to its location and some political interests.
Recently Government officials made a statement that they will put the feasibility report again in front of cabinet for further approval.
